I have never seen this ad, but it's obviously old, probably from the 80's or 70's. However I could see this ad being used to sell todays "cool" beers, of course it would need some updating. I like the serious tone mixed with the ridiculousness of the situations. What do you guys think?

I LOVE it! I especially love the voice-over and the whole hugging thing.
I'm actually the guy manning the phone at the end of the commercial. It was filmed in 1998 in Stockholm, Sweden. There is another one we did that is even better, but I can't find it online anywhere.

I love this ad, I really thought it was a lot older than 1998, I guess it was the tone of voice used, and style of the people! I think it's the first time I have someone comment who is actually on the ad :p
If eventually manage to find the ad you're talking about, please send it to me.
Found it:

I believe the year was actually 1997 - not 1998. I'm the guy who takes off the sweater.

This is getting weird now, in a few days we'll have the whole cast here commenting :p
I Must say I do prefer the other Labatt Ice ad, although this is very funny to.
Thanks for sharing!
No, it's still me. Phone guy, sweater guy -- same guy.

AHH! Ok sorry. It would of been funny though!
In case you are interested in a bit of semi-useless trivia, both of these commercials were directed by Freddie Francis, who won the oscar for best cinematography for "Glory", back in 1990. How he went from an Oscar winning director to making beer commercials is beyond me, but he was our man!
Thanks, BTW, for posting these. The only copies I have are on old videos. Do you know how I can save these in a format I can play? I believe they are Flash files?

Well, advertising isn't as glorious as cinema, but you do get great adverts, as is this one. Plus, the money in advertising isn't bad either! Maybe he got fed up of long features and wanted to go short.
You can install an ad-on for firefox which lets you download flash files, as is the case with YouTube. You will then need a flash player, try http://www.downloads.com
